Celebrating Chinese New Year Together at Agileness Home Care Centre

Chinese New Year is a special time for family, food and spending time together. At Agileness Home Care Centre, we also wanted our elderly residents to enjoy the festive season and feel that they are part of the celebration.

This year, we prepared MCD for our elderly, which was something different from their usual meals. Some of them had not eaten KFC for a very long time, so they were happy to enjoy it together. Sometimes, it is the simple things like having a favourite meal that can make the day more enjoyable.
                                                            

A Small Performance with Lots of Smiles

We also invited a group of performers to spend some time with our elderly residents and put together a small performance for them.  Some residents were simply happy to sit and watch, while others became more involved as the music played.
                                                    

One of the most enjoyable moments was when we danced together with our elderly residents. It did not matter whether anyone could dance well or follow every step. What mattered was that everyone was having fun and being part of the moment. For us, these are the moments that make elderly care more than just providing a safe place to stay.

When Families Come Together

Chinese New Year was also a time for families to come and spend time with their loved ones. Having family members around made the celebration feel even more like home, and our residents were able to enjoy the day together with the people they care about.
                      
For many elderly people, family visits can mean much more than we realise. Sometimes they may not remember exactly what day it is or what occasion they are celebrating, but they can still recognise familiar faces, enjoy the laughter around them and feel the warmth of having their family nearby.

Helping Our Elderly Residents Stay Connected

At Agileness, we believe that caring for seniors is not only about daily routines, meals, medication assistance and keeping them safe. It is also about giving them reasons to smile, opportunities to socialise and meaningful experiences throughout the year. 

For an elderly care centre, these celebrations may seem like small events, but to our residents, they can become important memories. A box of KFC, a small performance, dancing together and having family members around may sound simple, but sometimes the simplest moments are the ones that bring the biggest smiles.

We hope that every festival we celebrate together can remind our elderly residents that they are not simply staying in a care centre. They are part of a community, surrounded by people who care about them and want them to enjoy each stage of life.
